Edo Popović – Guest of the Literaturfest Niedersachsen [Lower Saxony Literary Festival]

On 20 September 2010,  Edo Popović read at the Literaturfest Niedersachsen from his debut novel Ponoćni boogie, [The Midnight Boogie] which will appear in German, thanks to the kind support of TRADUKI (Mitternachtsboogie, Voland & Quist). The book, which was first published in 1987, captured the attitude of young people at the end of the Tito Era, and became the cult book of an entire generation.

Clemens Meyer, Popović's friend, read from the German translation by Alida Bremer. He tells the story of a teen gang in Leipzig during the time of the Wende (the Fall of the Berlin Wall) in his debut novel Als wir träumten [While We Dreamed]. Matthias Nolte, the programme director of the Literarischer Salon Hannover, moderated the event.
