In cooperation with TRADUKI, the Goethe-Institut Croatia, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Leipzig Book Fair and the KURS Association, the Zagreb organisation Knjižni blok arranged an international workshop on the subject of "The publishing industry today".
The Serbian Ministry for Culture, Media and Information Society has issued a new invitation to apply for the translation sponsorship of Serbian literary works. The sponsorship covers up to 50 % of the costs for the translation of representative literary works, which have been published in Serbia by professional publishing companies. Deadline for applications: 1st April 2012.
On 17th January 2012 the GRAD Cultural Centre in Belgrade invited guests to another event in the ²Gradska knjižnica² series, which is financially supported by TRADUKI. In conversation with the moderator Tijana Spasić the author Mirjana Đurđević presented her new novel Bremasoni. In this she tells the story of a Masonic Lodge for women in Belgrade during the interwar period.
The city of Graz awards each year the literary grant "Writer of the City of Graz". The aim is to promote writers, who show innovative ability and topical relevance, aesthetic and linguistic quality, authenticity and artistic independence. Their stay in Graz should promote both cultural exchange as well as the interaction with the literary scene locally. Closing date for applications: 31st March 2012.
The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) and the ERSTE Foundation give grants to translators as part of the Paul Celan Fellowship Programme. During a residence of several months in Vienna the grant holders can devote themselves to work on their current translation projects. Closing date for applications: 25th March 2012.
