Snežana Minić, born in 1958 in Niš (Serbia), studied German and Comparative Literature in Belgrade. She completed her studies with an extensive Master’s thesis about how Gottfried Benn’s poetry was received in the Serbo-Croatian speaking area. After that she initially worked as a German teacher, then as a journalist, writer and freelance translator from German into Serbian. Since 1992 she has lived in Hamburg. Until now Snežana Minić has published five of her own volumes of poetry and numerous translations of German authors into Serbian, including works by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Gottfried Benn and Sarah Kirsch. She is a member of the Serbian Association of Writers and of the Serbian and German P.E.N. centre.
