Tina Strančar was born in 1985 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She studied German Language and Literature there and in Bremen, followed by study for a doctorate in Literary Studies in Ljubljana and Berlin. Tina Strančar has now been translating German-language prose and poetry into Slovenian for several years, including works by Christoph Ransmayr, Daniel Kehlmann, Andreas Unterweger, Jenny Erpenbeck and Regine Hilber. She has received several awards for her translation work. She has taken part in many translation seminars and organises literary evenings. Tina Strančar is a member of the Association of Slovenian Literary Translators.
