The conflicts between religions that have a common origin, i.e. the Abrahamian religions determine our present more than ever before. Peter Sloterdijk deals in his essay first with the question of which political, social and psychological made the development of monotheism possible. Against the polytheism of the antique high cultures of Egyptians, Hittites, and Babylonians rose up the Jewish monotheism as a protest theology. The Jews kept their religion to their own people, but in contrast to that, the Christianity developed a global preaching of its apostolic message. The Islam intensified the offensive universalism into a militant political expansion mode. In the present, the three religions have to turn to peaceful coexistence and discussion.
