Slavo Šerc, born in 1959 in Maribor, studied Slovenian Language and Literature and Comparative History of Literature with Theory of Literature in Ljubljana. He was Assistant Professor for Slovenian at the Universities of Regensburg and Munich. Slavo Šerc has published numerous essays, columns and radio features in the Slovenian media. In 1996 his book Nemška književnost danes was published. As a translator he devotes himself particularly to contemporary German Literature and Philosophy. His translations include books by Elfriede Jelinek, Urs Widmer, Herta Müller, Thomas Brussig, Peter Stamm, Judith Hermann, Sven Regener, Feridun Zaimoglu, Robert Walser, Walter Benjamin and Peter Sloterdijk.
