Miro Cerar was born in 1963 in Ljubljana. He studied Law and completed his PhD in Law in 2000. He went on to become a professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana, teaching constitutional law, comparative law, and legal ethics. He soon made a name for himself as a jurist. In 1991 for example he participated in formulating the Slovene constitution. In 2014 he established his own political party, Party of Modern Centre (SMC), with which he won the parliamentary elections that same year. Miro Cerar has been Prime Minister of Slovenia since September 2014.
