In the hot Dalmatian high summer, the Serbian poet Petar Matović was guest of the residence program in Split, organized by the association KURS and supported by TRADUKI. Matović presented his poetry to the audience in Split on the evening of July 15, in midst of the lively crowds on the streets of Split, in a discussion with the host Marijo Glavaš, a poet from Split. At the same event, the poet Jasmina Topić presented the poetry book Najbolja (The Best), a cross section of the poetry scene of the north Serbian town of Pančevo. It was a cheerful poetry evening, in which the audience enjoyed very much.
During his stay in the Split residence, Matović worked on his new texts, incorporating the impressions of the city in them. He used his time in Croatia to visit other places and to have literary readings there as well. He read his poetry for example in Solin within the artists’ colony Rational Park and in the Croatian capital Zagreb, where his Croatian publisher Durieux organized the reading. The newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija presented Matović in a extensive Interview to the broad Croatian audience.
The writers in residence program in Split is supported by TRADUKI, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Split and the Croatian Writers’ Association HDP.
