The international book fair in Tirana is one of the most important events on the Albanian book market. In its frame, on November 10, a discussion took place with the title Translation and Publication of Literature Written in Less Used Languages. The event, supported by TRADUKI, met with a lot of interest from the fair visitors and the media.
The discussants sought answers to the questions of the extent to which literature of small languages is translated to Albanian, of the representativeness of the selection of writers, of the source language – is it also the language of the original, or is it a relay language – and how does this choice influences the quality of the Albanian translation. Last but not least, the panelists discussed the criteria that the Albanian authorities apply to make translation suggestions to foreign publishing houses.
