On 23-27 August 2017, the 16th edition of the international literature festival Poetische Quellen (Poetical Sources) took place. The festival’s artistic director Michael Scholz created an impressive program, in which 34 writers, philosophers, translators, journalists and musicians from 7 countries visited the neighbouring towns of Bad Oeynhausen and Löhne in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Owing to the first cooperation with the poetry festival Sarajevo Poetry Days, initiated by Dževad Karahasan and Michael Scholz, the opening ceremony was devoted to the city of Sarajevo and to the culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The organizers of Poetischen Quellen welcomed as their guests, among others, the following writers and poets: Dževad Karahasan, Claudia Ott, Ilija Trojanow, SAID, Asmir Kujović, Michael Krüger, Andrej Nikolaidis, Herta Müller, Ellen Hinsey, Anna Maria Carpi, Giorgio Fontana, Ingo Schulze as well as the world music band Divanhana from Sarajevo. The closing event was devoted to the late writer and Roger Willemsen who died in February 2016 and was a close collaborator of the festival Poetischen Quellen.
