Šteger, Aleš


Aleš Šteger was born in 1973 in Ptuj (Slovenia). He studied Comparative Literature and German studies in Ljubljana and is Co-founder of the "Medana" international poetry festival. He now lives and works in Ljubljana as a freelance author and writes lyrics and prose. His poetry anthology Šahovnice ur was awarded the Slovenian book expo’s prize for the best debut feature of the last two years in 1995. In 1998, he received the Veronika Prize for the best Slovenian lyrical work, Kašmir. His works are represented in various anthologies and were translated into several languages.
