Popov, Alek

Alek Popov, born in 1966 in Sofia, studied Bulgarian Philology and worked as the CAttache of the Bulgarian consulate in Great Britain and North Ireland, among other things. He works as an author, and is also the author of a line of stories, screenplays, and audio dramas. Popov's work has been translated into several languages and awarded numerous literature awards, including the helicon? for the best prose work 2002 (Missiya London [Mission: London]). His second novel Chernata kutiya, stayed at the top of the Bulgarian bestseller list for weeks and was awarded the renowned Elias Canetti Award in 2007. Alek Popov lives in Sofia.
