Schwarzes Quadrat

Frisch, Max.

frisch_quadratIn 1981, Frisch writes two lectures, which he gives in English at the beginning of November 1981 at the City College of New York. Both lectures are a journey through the work and concurrently the instrument of self-assessment and self-discovery: Which impulses precede the need to write? What is literature capable of? And for what reason? Max Frisch's lectures are a manifest: an avowal to poetry, which does not resign itself to the possible, which cannot let go "of the sorrow that being a human on this earth is not different". They appeared in German for the first time as Schwarzes Quadrat (title of the English translation: Black Square) in 2008.

Schwarzes Quadrat by Max Frisch was translated into Croatian (excerpt) by Latica Bilopavlović and was published as Crni kvadrat by Ljevak, Zagreb.
