Sibylle Berg, born not so long ago in Weimar, is ever since her debut novel Ein paar Leute suchen das Glück und lachen sich tot [A Couple of People Seek Fortune and Die Laughing] (1997) regarded as an uber-mother of the young German literature. She could live without that. Besides numerous book, the dedicated chain smoker Sibylle Berg wrote theatre plays and texts for various magazines in Germany and Switzerland, including for Das Magazin (Zürich), Allegra (Hamburg) and the Zeit-Magazin. Her theatre plays (Helges Leben; Hund, Mann, Frau; Schau da geht die Sonne unter, and others) have been staged in Germany and internationally. Sibylle Berg lives in Zürich because it is nice there.
