Ja sam anđeo očajanja

Müller, Heiner.

mueller_jaA selection of approximately fifty poems, written between 1949 and 1995. The associations of the poet  fluctuate between big names and ideas: Shakespeare, Sophocles, Pushkin, Vergil, Homer, Mommsen, Benjamin, Marx, Napoleon, Lenin, Rilke and Brecht, to name just a few. In his poems they are present as our contemporaries as he invokes them as witnesses during the writing process.   The early Müller understood writing to be the merciless understanding of historical reality, at the end of his writing path, it became a reckoning, no less merciless, with his own illusions.

The selection of poems Ja sam anđeo očajanja [I am the Angel of Doubt] by Heiner Müller, has been published by Altera, Belgrade. Selected, compiled and translated into Serbian by Dragoslav Dedović (excerpt).
