The first TRADUKI project was the meeting of South Eastern European publishers, authors, and translators of literature for children and young people, which took place from May 28th to May 31st 2008 in Volkach, Bavaria.

Volkach was chosen as the meeting place as the German Academy for Literature for Children and young People has been located there since 1976.

.

As literature for children and young people is one of the three TRADUKI  pillars it was time to establish contact with some of the countries in this region and to strengthen the communication in this field.

The TRADUKI guests were greeted officially by the S. Fischer Foundation and the German Academy and participated in the grand opening.

The meeting included many readings of Germany authors (Paul Maar, Isabel Abedi, Jutta Richter among others), lectures and workshops all around the subject of literature for children and young people.

TRADUKI created a platform, where experts from the region could exchange opinions, and enable contacts to the institutions in the German-speaking region.

During several closed events it was possible to talk with representatives from the TRADUKI project about concrete questions on the exchange of literature for children and young people, the financing of translations and licenses etc. within the TRADUKI project.
