bajazetov aleksandraAleksandra Bajazetov, born in 1969 in Jagodina (Serbia), studied German Language and Literature, and Comparative Literature at the University of Belgrade and International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She worked as a language editor at the Institute for German Language and Literature at the University of Belgrade (1995-2007) and was co-editor of the literary journal Reč, and of the childrens’ book series of the Belgrade publishing company, Fabrika knjiga. She successfully completed grant residences in Tübingen (DAAD), Berlin (Goethe-Institut, Literary Colloquium), Munich (International Youth Library) and at the EÜK (Europäisches Übersetzerkollegium) Straelen. In 2002 she was awarded the Miloš N. Đurić Translator Prize for her translation of Arbeit am nationalen Gedächtnis [Work on National Memory](Aleida Assmann). Aleksandra Bajazetov has translated works by Hannah Arendt, Maria Todorova, Helmut Dubiel, Aleida Assmann, Hermann Bausinger, Hanns Zischler, David Crystal, Friedrich Schleiermacher, Inka Parei, Thomas Hylland Eriksen, Rafik Schami, Stef Jansen, Niall Griffiths, Victor Klemperer, Günter de Bruyn and Markus Werner.
