On 13-18 August 2017, the Arbeitskreis für Jugendliteratur e.V. (IBBY Germany) and the Robert Bosch Stiftung will host the eighth annual workshop on the translation of German children’s and young adult literature entitled Kein Kinderspiel!. It will take place in Elsa-Brändström-Haus in Hamburg. The five-day workshop offers 15 translators of children’s and young adult literature the opportunity to tackle specific problems of the genre and discuss current trends. The workshop is aimed at professional translators of children’s and young adult literature who translate from of German to their native languages. Deadline for application is May 2nd, 2017.
In cooperation with the Slovene Writers' Association the Central European Initiative (CEI) offers a writers in residence fellowship for 2017. A three-month residence can be spent in any of the countries of CEI, according to the choice of the writer winning the fellowship. The writer also gets an invitation to participate at the International Literary Festival Vilenica in September 2017.
The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) invites translators to apply for Paul Celan Fellowships for the period of 2017-18. The fellowships are aimed to support translation of canonical texts and contemporary key works in the humanities, social sciences and cultural studies from Eastern to Western, Western to Eastern, or between two Eastern European languages. Deadline for applications for a three- to six-month fellowship in Vienna is February 6, 2017.
